Welcome to Litterpicker

In Nigeria, solid waste management is the most pressing environmental challenge faced by urban and rural areas of Nigeria. Nigeria, with population exceeding 170 million, is one of the largest producers of solid waste in Africa. Waste is produced by human activity, for example, the extraction and processing of raw materials. Waste management is intended to reduce adverse effects of waste on human health, the environment or aesthetics.

Despite a host of policies and regulations, solid waste management in the country is assuming alarming proportions with each passing day. Nigeria generates more than 32 million tons of solid waste annually, out of which only 20-30% is collected. Despite the challenges with waste management in Nigeria, no popular e-solution exist to cater for the collection, transport, treatment and disposal of waste. Youpple intends to bridge this gap by developing an e-solution to link waste generation points to waste management companies.
